Central Little League: Charlottesville, VA

Content

Central Little League is a completely volunteer-run 501(c)(3) organization.  To assist in offsetting the costs of running the league, we ask families to voluntarily participate in a raffle fundraiser each season.   On Opening Day, we will hand out raffle books to each coach who will in turn distribute them to their teams.  We will pick up the raffle stubs and collected cash from each coach on May 14th at each team's game so please sell your tickets prior to them!

Winners will be chosen at the games before Memorial Day and we will announce all winners at the June 4th games.

The child who sells the most raffle tickets will get a new Oculus and the next two highest (one from baseball and one from softball) will each receive a new bat!

What do we do with the funds?

We spent the proceeds of the 2019 raffle (approximately $8,000) on new dugouts at Pen Park's Lower Field!  We spent the proceeds of the 2021 raffle (approximately $10,000) on a new scoreboard for Azalea Park along with batting cages at Azalea Park.  We expect that they will be installed by Opening Day 2022, which is coming up soon.  We are hoping to use the 2022 proceeds to improve our left field batting cage at Geer Field.  We hope to continue to demonstrate our commitment to all of our divisions including tee ball and coach pitch and all softball divisions.

Tickets are sold at $10 each, or:

3 tickets for $20
10 tickets for $60
15 tickets for $80

Prizes for the raffle are:

$250 gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods
$100 gift card to Peace Frogs Travel/Outfitters
$50 gift card to Boylan Heights
$50 gift card to Citizen Burger Bar
$30 gift card to Domino's Pizza
2 $25 gift cards to Wawa

We are happy to report that our 2021 raffle raised over $10,000 to support our league this year!  As you all know, we use funds like this to provide scholarships to those who need it to play baseball and softball and to improve and upgrade our fields each year so that each of our children gets the best baseball and softball experience they can.

The following winners were chosen last season after the games were completed in the presence of some board members and coaches.

Dicks Sporting Goods $250- Tina Hopkins
Peace Frogs $100 - Clinton Wells
Citizen Burger $50- John Roslyn
Boylan Heights $50- Stacy Higgins
Dominos $30 - Diane Quaan
WaWa $25- Holly Koran
Wawa $25- Alice Burnette

Our team with the most sales was the Kiwanis Club, who celebrated with a pizza party of the summer.

Our best league seller was Griff Haden, who won the Oculus!

Our second place sellers were Tre Payne and Londyn Randolph, who will be smashing home runs with their new bats very soon!

We appreciate everyone's support and we look forward to showing pictures of the upgrades we make with this money!

What can you expect to hear from our little leaguers?  Something like this:

"Hi, my name is ______________.  I play on Central Little League's ____________ [team name and level].  Central has been a part of Charlottesville since 1951.  Currently, we are raising money to upgrade our fields and include more children each year in baseball.  We support the community by allowing all children to play baseball each year, even when they can't afford to.  Would you like to be part of supporting our fundraiser?  It will get more children out on the fields and having fun playing our national pastime."
