We are thrilled to have your children participate in Spring baseball and softball this year. We have over 325 children registered to play in 2024, making last spring the largest softball season ever and the largest baseball season since 2004! Additionally, we have over 110 volunteers who will help this season happen between Board Members, Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Team Managers, Field Maintenance help, and Concessions Stand help. Thank you to everyone for making this league a success year in and year out. Additionally, we are always looking for more board members, so please reach out to a current board member and ask about it or send us an email at [email protected]. Once we form teams, your child's coach will reach out to you with the practice location and schedule for the season. Baseball and softball game schedules will be set and posted at http://www.centralll.com and can be accessed by selecting "standings and schedules". If there is inclement weather on a day you are supposed to practice, your coach will make the decision whether to hold or cancel practice. In some instances, the city and/or county Parks and Recreation Department may stop all use of the ball fields. In that situation, we will try to have the Field Status section of the website updated asap. On game days with inclement weather, the league will make the decision as to whether to cancel the game; for Saturday games, we aim to make a decision by 7am. If we decide to cancel, you can check the website or our Facebook page for an announcement. If there is no announcement, you can expect that the game is going on. Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram, and feel free to post pictures of the games tagging us and using the hashtag #cvillelovescentral. We would love to see pictures of the kids enjoying baseball and softball! As of right now, Opening Day is planned for April 12th and picture day is planned for mid-May. Opening Day ceremonies will begin at 8am at Pen Park for both baseball AND softball, and then games will begin at 9am that day. All games will be finished by June 7th, at which point the season will conclude.
At Opening Day you can expect to hear about our annual fundraising efforts. We are trying to fund a number of key projects including lights at Pen Park (via a close teamwork with the charity Aidan's Lights and in conjunction with direction from Musco Lighting) with a goal of raising ~ $170,000). More information and the story of Aidan Peters and how important Central Little League was in his life are a click away. Follow the link on our main website. We also will be installing a new scoreboard at Azalea Park, and bringing upgrades to the facilities at Pen Park (upper and lower field) and other projects across our facilities. We also want to make you aware of a wonderful community program underway at Pen Park called Bennett's Village which has completed construction on a tree house and will continue to work on related outdoor facilities for children with disabilities this spring! Construction at the playground relates to that project. Also, please pay attention to our sponsors who are on league jerseys and on banners at the field. Their sponsorships help us underwrite the ability to provide baseball and softball to those families who can't afford to pay for it. Per Little League policy, no child is ever turned away for not being able to pay the registration fee. We pride ourselves on having created a culture of mutual respect throughout our league that serves our children well as they learn to be supportive teammates. Please be supportive of all kids, coaches, and especially our volunteer umpires. If you see behavior that doesn't fit that model, please let a coach or board member know so we can address it appropriately. Most of all, have fun this season! We love bringing the games of baseball and softball to as many kids as possible, and we can't wait to get this season started. See you all on the ballfields! - Your Central Little League Board of Directors |
